Low Round Today
Idle Hour Club
Macon, GA
2008 Georgia Amateur Championship
This photograph represents what is on the mind today of the 156 players who will tee it up in the first round of The Open Championship, not whether or not Tiger Woods and Kenny Perry are in the field.
Geoff Shackelford provides a great filter for all of the stories coming out of Royal Birkdale and Daniel Wexler explains why this is "the major major championship." Stan Awtrey in The AJC takes a look at the ten players with Georgia connections.
In his local golf report, Awtrey notes that Bulldog stars "Harris English and Russell
Henley are helping restore the importance of the Georgia Amateur
Championship for their generation of competitors" and that "both have already promised to play in next year's Georgia Am at the Country Club of Columbus." That's great news for photographers who happen to be covering that event!

In the Macon Telegraph's excellent coverage, Jonathan Heeter writes that "Macon native Henley overcomes 4-stroke deficit, 2-hour stoppage to win", Coley Harvey writes that Idle Hour is the "home of a champion", Jay Adams tells us that "under pressure, Henley delivers big comeback" and Michael A. Lough reveals that Jay Moseley "finds groove away from pack for top final-round score".
